U12A Hockey Match

Score: 1-1

We had an early start in the morning at 7:30 travelling an hour away by bus.The school we played against was Bedford Modern school.

Overall we came out with our first draw of the season and we showed improvement.

The first half was when they scored by a short corner, leaving us in disappointed.  We came back harder and stronger in the second half, after Mrs Brewers inspired us. We needed to focus on: driving when we got the ball at speed down the wing, marking a player and as soon as we got in the D take a shot at goal.

We all had clear positions:

Emily Anderson-D

Jess Dean-D

Ivy Kettlewell-CM (Captain)-(scored goal)

Gemma O’Flaherty-RM

Evy Dickie-Meadows-CF

Isla Fulluck Holmes-LM

Ella Weeks-LM

Beth Nasey-CM

Maddie Fisher-The best goalie!

During the second half Ivy scored a great team goal.  Also we had many more attempts at goal. Our defence was stronger than ever stopping all shots at goal. We enjoyed ourselves and improved on the first few games and a win is sure to be just around the corner.

Thank you Mrs Bewers for everything you have done.

We played an away match against Bedford Modern and won 2-1. It was an amazing match and everyone played extremely well. The defence consistently managed to get the ball up the pitch to the attackers so they could have a shot on goal. In the second quarter Sophie Jesset scored the first goal of the match boosting all of our confidence. Jess Clarke, our goal keeper, managed to save many shots on goal leaving them with only one goal scored throughout the whole match. After a great team talk at half time we manged to score yet another goal- an amazing effort by Kitty, who scored into the top left hand corner of the goal, and we ended up winning 2-1. It was a very good match and a big win so a huge well done to everyone.

The match against Bedford Modern was a tiring but well fought battle. Some good shots by Poppy Newman and Amy Rule. Our defence was strong with Poppy Taylor-Border, Maddie Pike, Maisie Weeks and Lottie Farley following the ball. Bedford has some good shots at goal but didn’t score any thanks to our goalie Izzy York-Forward.

Attacking was strong down the wings and in the D. Defence had a hard battle but managed to keep going. Player of the Match was Maisie Weeks. Our Captain was Poppy Taylor-Border.

Well played girls.

Saturday match was yet another win for the U12 C’s – who were up against Bedford modern – They were very strong in the 1st half, scoring 3 goals, in the order of Millie Bird, Sophie Warmen and Ruby Fergusen. We had great keeper skills, which stopped many of the opposition’s attacks. This was accompanied by good defensive skills in the first half, which lacked ever so slightly in the second. The second half led to them scoring there first goal due to their spacing and clever play on the pitch. They were spirited in their defeat just as Stamford was gracious in their victory.

Our third match of the season!

Saturdays match started with us waiting at the school door in the morning cold, soon we all piled onto the bus which took us on a cheery journey to Bedford modern school. In a short amount of time we were on the pitch warming up for the big game. After a match talk from Miss Leddy we soon started the game beginning with Bedford scoring, after that it was a tense first half. Stamford pushing towards the goal at all times and before we knew it the half time whistle blew.

We huddled in the goal to hear a motivation talk from Miss Leddy which was very encouraging. The second half was all even Stevens, Stamford trying extra hard. Our goal keeper (Chloe Morgan- Bramley) saving many attempts on goal did really well. Unfortunately, there were no goals in the second half although we all did brilliantly, hope to see us playing that well in all our games.

The score was 1-0 to Bedford Modern and a big shout out to Lottie Beverstock, player of the match (very well deserved). Well done team!

U13B

After a long journey to Ipswich school, the Stamford B team played incredibly well. The score at the end of the first half was 2-1 to Ipswich, however after some suggestions and improvements the team pulled up with a 5-2 win.

There were two goals from Jemima Todd and Isabel Philby and one goal scored by Annie-May Cannings.

Players’ player was given to Emily Cornelius with, yet again, many amazing goals saved. Coach’s player was given to Ruby Perkins for some fantastic drives down the wing and great adaption to a new position on the pitch.

It was a very enjoyable game to play and watch with great performance from the whole team.

A whole two hours of “We are the champions” rang in Miss Naismith’s ears on the return journey from Ipswich and quite rightly so! SHS came up to the best challenge yet with a well drilled Ipswich side. The first half saw SHS being half asleep from the journey and Ipswich were quick to capitalise on some weak marking. The girls reacted well with an equaliser 1 minute later through a well struck corner scored by Agatha Pennell.  Half time was welcomed by the team and by Miss Naismith who ages 10 years during the first half and gave the girls time to re-group and think more tactically. A decision was made to switch from 3-4 across the back to give us some more defensive cover. SHS came out more determined in the second half, excellent work rate from Alice Brownlow in the midfield thread through some visionary balls into Issy Sharpe and Amy Rule. Jolie Mitchell Clarke and Leonie Hart were hunting in the D and created some good goal scoring opportunities. The game ended in our favour with a 2-1 victory.
