Chloe and Oscar win the Oswald Elliott Cup! Read about the debate and watch a video of Chloe debating!

On the 3rd July 2019, Stamford Endowed Schools had its first ever charity debate in support of the charity Mindspace and we managed to raise a total of £330 in for this charity. The charity debate was the idea of one of the current Debating Captains, Tom Watson, who chaired and planned the debate superbly. The motion was “This house believes that today’s teenagers are responsible for the current mental health crisis”. Proposing the motion were previous Debating Captains Daisy Jowers and Georgio Rubbo, whilst on the opposition, we had current Debating Captains Oscar Dixon-Spain and Chloe Smyth. When the debate finished, Oscar Dixon-Spain and Chloe Smyth won both the floor vote as well as the judges’ vote, taking home the Oswald Elliot Cup and securing a win for the current debating team at SES. The evening was absolutely wonderful and the level of debating skills demonstrated were superb. We hope to continue to do charity debates for some years to come.
