Seconds record first win of the season against Leys.

Saturday 19th January vs The Leys

An outstanding 60 minutes of hockey for the 2nds against the Leys at home saw them to their first win of the season. Starting at the back with another solid performance from Saunders and Cato, they gave the Leys attack no chances to capitalize. Assisting with a solid defence, Edwards, Watson and Smye kept the structure we needed. Heading and Davies’ awareness on the ball in the midfield kept the game at a high pace along with the junior Bell’s interesting choices of ball distribution. Worthington had a terrific performance with his one touch technique keeping the Leys midfield away from the ball. McGloin and Macbeth’s high work rate in the midfield allowed the players up top to have every chance to attack the goal. Pelembe, Smith and Foster kept the height up top that allowed our midfield to drive the ball to the corners and stretch the Leys defence. Cameron Macbeth was the source of our success finessing two brilliantly worked goals, one from a clinical short corner and another flying over the keeper’s head, the other goal coming from a penalty flick.
