The Strongest Typhoon that Hong Kong ever had

Super Typhoon (Category 3) Mangkuht has just hit Hong Kong on Sunday (16/09/2018) in the morning in Hong Kong time. Although it is not the strongest typhoon in the western Pacific ever, it damaged Hong Kong very badly. Mangkhut has skirted 100km to the south of Hong Kong and it landed 10km to the west of Macau. Although Mangkhut didn’t land in Hong Kong, it’s circulation is very extensive, and Hong Kong is in the Mangkhut’s Dangerous semicircle. We had experienced the strongest wind from Mangkhut. The Observatory in Hong Kong has issued the highest signal for 10hours!

Winds may not be the biggest problem; storm surge will be. In North Point has recorded about 3.88m high of tide level and 4.69m high of tide level were recorded in the Tai Po Kau. Many places near the coast were flooded. There were a few buildings had an electricity failure and water problem. Transportation were disturbed on the second day. The destructive power caused by the typhoon was met in the past 50 years.
