Ada and Kathryn blog the ‘The Big FEASTIVAL’

The Big Feastival”

On Friday 24th of August we went to the Big Feastival,
which is a big music and food festival held at Alex James’
farm in The Cotswold’s near Chipping Norton.
It starts on Friday night and ends on Monday morning, and
we were with our two families plus both of our older
siblings friends.

Now let’s begin at day one……
We had just finished the two-hour car journey to get to the
festival and then we waited in the car for a buggy to come
and collect our bags and help us get to the campsite.
It kept on “stop start” raining but finally we
arrived at the campsite and found our
tents (we had four) and collected our
wristbands. We unpacked our bags and
headed into the festival. We wandered
around for a bit taking in how amazing it all
looked with all the food stalls, colourful
banners, rainbow tents, the rides and THE
MAIN STAGE where all the music artists
would perform later on.
We went off with Evie (Ada’s sister) and her friend Poppy
and explored until we found a “mac and cheese” stand.
We bought two tubs full of “mac and cheese” and then we
had some churros (which is a Spanish doughnut that you dip
in chocolate sauce). Then we went to the main stage two
see Becky Hill.
Becky Hill was AMAZING but then it
got so cold we decided to skip to
the part of the day that everyone
was waiting for (drum roll please)
THE SILENT DISCO. If you don’t
know what a silent disco is it is
basically where everyone wears
headphones and there are three channels run by DJ’s that
you can choose from. In ours there were red, green and
blue. You switch between channels to find the music you
want to listen to.
After the silent disco we all retired
back to our tent had hot chocolate
and toasted marshmallows before
we all snuggled into our sleeping
bags and fell asleep.

Then came day two….
We woke up (yawn, stretch), we did our hair and make up
and got dressed and for the second time we went into the
festival to find it was not raining and even hot.
For breakfast we got crispy squid
which if you don’t know is calamari (I
know, not your classic breakfast but it
was good) then we joined the queue
for the VR Tim Peak space experience,
which was so good.
Then we ate Churros again (I think
they’re my new favorite food), while we watched Rak-Su
perform (who were also AMAZING). Later we tasted Thai
noodles and yet again went to the silent disco.
Then, sadly, it was time to leave go back to the tent, toast
marshmallows, have some hot chocolate and go to bed
then…

…Day three…
It was raining again…..
However, day three is usually the
day when most people leave so it
was all a bit emptier.
Sadly the dads and the boys all
had to leave for various reasons
and it was only the girls left.
We decided to stay in the tent
longer then usual but we still went
out to the festival with extra layers
and saw DJ BBQ; who is a DJ who
is famous for cooking with fire.
Then our mums booked us
into a NEFF cooking
session in which we made
gnocchi (which is a type
of pasta) and sponge
drops (which are small
cake circles stacked up
with whipped lemon
flavored cream and a
raspberry on top) and afterwards we got to eat them.
Then we shifted over to the main stage to watch Mel C and
Tom Odell.
After watching them we went to eat giant meatballs with
rice and curry sauce. Then we decided to go back to the
campsite to watch “Trolls” in the cinema tent, but as soon as
we found out that James Arthur was on stage, we sprinted
back to the main stage just in time to see him and Paloma
Faith who was THE BEST EVER………
But then we had to go to bed.

However on the way back we sneakily had some “disco
fries” with our mums.
Day four…..
The day we left. We loaded all our bags into the car and we
went on our way 🙁
