Year 7 enjoy first Cricket Session

Our first year 7 cricket session was on Monday 8th of January. 35 Year 7 Students, including myself, arrived at this session eager for the hour and a half of good cricket ahead. The session was taken by former England fast bowler, Mr. Headley and our teacher, Mr. Gloucester.

After a short welcome we got straight into the action, getting all 4 nets out so the space was maximized. The warm up consisted of a small fielding game to get our bodies ready for the upcoming batting. We then got our bats and Mr. Headley showed us our first task: hitting the ball correctly.  The key skill we learnt is the importance of having a stable base so one can hit the ball further.

We then went onto our next coaching point, again expertly demoed by Mr. Headley. By the end of this intense and fun session we were all very tired but pleased how much we’d got out of the session.  Thanks again to Mr. Headley and Mr. Gloucester for their expertise in this great sport. We look forward to next week!
